After a four year hiatus Avril Lavigne is ready to take a full swing at music again. Earlier this month it was reported the singer had signed a contract with BMG and that a new album was well underway.
The pop/rock singer-songwriter even teased fans in what they can expect.
"--going back to my roots a little bit... I got my start in church and at country fairs when I was a young child, and I think those earlier influences are definitely coming out now."
On the new album Lavigne says she challengedherself as a songwriter, "I wanted to write about topics I hadn't hit on before," she continues, "There's the love topic, but a lot of these songs are about life. I've experienced a lot over the past few years, and some of the songs just came to me."
One song was written when Avril thought she was near death, wow!!
When asked about her only number one hit "Girlfriend", the singer added -- I enjoyed every moment of promoting it, performing it, shooting the video -- so so so much fun, and lots of pink hair!" she recalls. "I remember my manager Terry McBride calling me and telling me it went to No. 1. I hope to hear those words again!"
